Brand design is the practice of designing a name, symbol or graphic that communicates what differentiates a company or product from competitors.

Branding is that 3-second impression you have of a person, product, service, or most notably – a brand. A brand promise is reinforced in many ways over time, but it all starts with a strong brand foundation. Branding goes beyond names and logos – it's a communication system, it is how people embody the brand and identify with it. That is the core of a strong or weak strategy which will ultimately make or break your odds of success. Ultimately, without consistent brand identity, all marketing communications suffer. Our brand design process includes brand positioning, brand naming, brand creative concepts, brand guidelines, and taglines.

In the cannabis industry, brand design elements are severely restricted due to the requirements and rules placed on packaging, labelling and promotion within the Cannabis Act and Regulation.

For example, the Cannabis Act restricts packages, labels and promotions that:

  • Communicate information about price of distribution;

  • Could be reasonably believed to be appealing to young persons;

  • Contains a testimonial or endorsement;

  • Depicts a person, character or animal, whether real or fictional; and

  • Shows a way of life associated with glamour, recreation, excitement, vitality, risk or daring.

While the Cannabis Act does not explicitly say that the elements listed above cannot be part of your cannabis company’s brand design, they should be avoided for obvious reasons.

Persona Development

Our job is to work with you to identify the clients and customers who need and want what you have to offer, analyze your competitors, and find the sweet spot where long-term customer relationships grow. To do that, we need to understand who your target audience is. From there we’re able to break that down further to create your target personas and scenarios.

For your digital marketing and communications to be truly effective you have to know who you are talking to. We’ll take what you already know, and bring some new insights, then combine them into several personas. Personas are fictitious people who represent an ideal client for your company. We’ll explore what makes them unique, and then craft all content around them.
